CARA Education and Outreach:
CARA/AIP Snow bike
This project, a collaboration between CARA and the
Art Institue of Pittsburgh (AIP),
is working to design a bike appropriate for use at the South
Pole. The bike, called the Ice Prowler, went down to the Pole for
the first time in Jan 2000.
This work is sponsored by the NSF through the
Advanced Technological Education program.
Bill Farrell was unable to make the trip. Steve Butler, Assistant
Director of the School of Design, went in his stead.
