Fast frame-rate imaging techniques such as Lucky Exposures are extremely easy and
cheap to implement at existing ground-based telescopes. In contrast
the installation of an adaptive optics system at a ground based
telescope is generally a complex and expensive process. There are even
greater technical difficulties associated with laser guide star
adaptive optics systems, and it will probably be a number of years
before they are widely available to the astronomical community.
