URSI status
 
 GMIC'99 Session in St. Petersburg has received the status of URSI co-sponsored meeting that gives us a possibility to hear more Invited talks. The reports of the GMIC'99 Session in St. Petersburg will be published in URSI Bulletin. In accordance with URSI rules young scientists (under 35) and students pay reduced Registration fee. As GMIC' 99 Session in St. Petersburg starts just after URSI General Assembly in Toronto (August 13-21) we would like to draw the attention of participants of URSI GA to the fact that there are a number of flights to St. Petersburg from Toronto on August 21-22: Finair via Helsinki (August 21), Lufthansa via Frankfurt (August 21, 22), CSA via Prague (August 21) and other.
 
 

Preliminary program

 Preliminary Program  of GMIC'99 Session in St. Petersburg "Early Universe": Cosmological Problems and Instrumental Technologies includes the List of Invited  and contributed talks on June 15.  The Final Program with the time-table will be available in August. In  Pre-registration List   you can find persons  who have pre-registered  via our WEB site or  sent us the e-mail message with intention to attend. We are looking forward to meet all those who are interested  in participating in  GMIC'99 Session in St. Petersburg.

Accompanying persons       $100
 
Registration fee covers attending the Conference sessions, refreshment, publication of GMIC-99 proceedings, Conference dinner, social events.

GMIC'99 Proceedings

The Proceedings of GMIC'99 Session in St. Petersburg will be published after the Conference. Full papers in WORD or LaTEX format should be submitted by the authors by October 1, 1999. Instructions for the authors are given in example1 and example 2.
 
 

Registration

Participants are invited for Registration in electronic form  till July 30. Registration also includes the most probable arrival/departure dates for Hotel reservations. During the Conference Registration area will be located near Petrovskij Hall of St.Petersburg State University and will work from August 23 10:00 to August 27, 1999, 17:00.
 

Format of the Conference and reports

Scientific sessions are planned during 4 days, August 24-27, morning sessions last from 9 am till 1 p.m. with coffee  break, afternoon sessions from 2:30 pm till  6 pm  with coffee break. We do not plan parallel Sessions during the Conference.
The format of reports is the following:

                                            40 min for Plenary (review) reports
                                            15-25 min for oral presentations
                                            30 min for common discussion  at the end of  each Session.

Two overheads will be available  for oral presentations in Petrovskij Hall. Poster boards  (1 m x 1 m  size) will be available  during all the presentation day.
 
 

Visas

Invitations for visas registration will be sent to  foreign participants  via Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs (in accordance with new  rules) till July 10
by FAX or post  depending on the country.  To receive  Invitation foreign participants should submit  personal data  necessary to get visas in Russian Consulates abroad.   We need the following information about participants:

Last name
First name
Citizenship
Date of birth
Passport number and the date of expiration of  the passport
Place of work
Your position at work
The address , phone and  FAX of work
The city where you will get the visa

Currency

Foreign exchange facilities for travelers arriving in St. Petersburg by plane are available daily at International airport Pulkovo 2. There are a lot of banks and exchange bureaus in the central part of the city which usually give  a  better rate  than in airport.  All hard currency can be changed into Russian rubles but in some places USD have  a better rate. International credit cards are accepted in International Hotels, big shops and restaurants.
 
 

       Access to St. Petersburg

By Air

St. Petersburg International Airport (Pulkovo 2) services flights from Europe and USA. If there is no direct flight from your country to St. Petersburg FINAIR, LUFTHANSA, KLM, CSA, LOT, other Companies have flights  to St. Petersburg from USA, Canada, Japan and Europe via Helsinki, Frankfurt, Amsterdam, Prague, Warsaw etc. Airport Pulkovo 2 is located in 40 min/30 min by bus/car from the City center.

By Rail

Participants can reach St. Petersburg from Moscow or Helsinki by  night or day train that takes 6-8 and 5-6 hours correspondingly. Trains arrive to Moskovsky and Finlandsky Stations which are located in the City center.

By Road

St. Petersburg is rather easily accessible by bus or car from/via Helsinki which is in 350 km from St. Petersburg on the road Helsinki-Vaalimaa-Vyborg- St. Petersburg.

Recommended arrival date is August 23 when transfer will be provided during the whole day.
 
 
 

Departure from St. Petersburg
 
 

Recommended departure dates are August 28-29. Some social events are also scheduled on August 28. On these days participants will be delivered to Airport/Rail st./Bus st.
