Welcome to the Yerkes Observatory Virtual Tour!Yerkes is a 100-year-old observatory (owned by the University of Chicago) with five research telescopes, one of which is the largest refractor in the world. This virtual tour is designed to not only show you what kinds of things you would see on a real tour, but also to give you a little history and show you a little of what goes on behind the scenes.Throughout this tour, there are many small images -- you can click on most small images to retrieve a larger image. (We did it this way so that the pages load quickly.)
So now, what would you like to do?
