Astrophysics Group - Funding for Graduate Students October 2004 entry

ASTROPHYSICS

PhD students whose parents are normally resident in the UK may be eligible for Particle Physics and Astronomy Research Council (PPARC) studentships allocated to the Astrophysics Group; we usually have between 4 and 6 such studentships on offer each year.

EU Nationals may also be eligible for PPARC fees-only awards, and in certain circumstances full awards. Details of this and other information can be found at the PPARC Graduate Studentships web-page.

Overseas students without private funding should consult the Board of Graduate Studies and Board of Graduate Studies FAQ web pages for details of possible alternative sources of funding.

All students should also be aware of the Isaac Newton Studentship which is is for the furtherance of advanced study and research in astronomy and astronomical physics (especially gravitational astronomy), both theoretical and observational. This includes the development of instrumentation and work on any branch of physical optics that has a direct bearing on astronomy or astronomical techniques.
