The CLFST has been in almost continuous operation throughout the last two
years, apart from a 3 month period (from mid-July 1994) mainly devoted to
thorough maintenance and adjustment. Most of the observations have been full
12hr runs for map-making: in particular,
runs for continuing
variability studies,
runs to cover chosen ROSAT pointings (including
the North Ecliptic Pole) and
runs on A2218. We have also
re-observed some of our original survey fields (
) and made further
observations (
) for the on-going Galactic survey. The ionosphere has
been much less disturbed in recent months and some very good quality data have
been obtained
For the monitoring of GRBs referred to in section 1.2.2, we have developed a new observing mode, to look for prompt radio `spikes' from these puzzling sources. The telescope is effectively split into 7 sub-telescopes, so covering a wider field of view and reducing the time after the burst before at least one sub-array can be pointed at the source. We have also continued to develop our data analysis techniques (see, for example, Waldram & Riley 1993).
