Center for Cosmological Physics' contributions to SZA

The SZA telescope was originally funded through the National Science Foundation's ATA program for the construction of six dishes. The Center for Cosmological Physics (CfCP) has provided the funding to add two more dishes to the array. This will almost double the sensitivity of the array.

The size of the correlator will increase correspondingly due to the two telescopes, and the CfCP has contributed funds to support this additional hardware.

With further support from the CfCP, the SZA project will be able to add a whole new observing band to the entire array so that imaging can be carried out from 85 to 115 GHz. The higher frequency band allows for detailed imaging of the SZE in detected clusters to understand the effect of cluster evolution and its impact on using clusters for furthering our knowledge of cosmology.
