The telescope has been in operation throughout the last 2 years and will continue to observe until the end of the grant in October 1997. The programme has two key elements -- 7C surveys and the monitoring of GRBs. The latter is dealt with in section 1.2.3.

The monitoring of fields as part of our Low Frequency Variability programme has been a major activity for the telescope. Some fields have now been observed 10 times in the past 13 years, and more than 20 fields have been observed on at least 3 occasions. They were chosen to cover a wide range of Galactic latitudes to test models of the Refractive Interstellar Scintillation which causes most of the variability. About 5 per cent of the population shows variability and we have now identified more than 200 examples. The very large archive of CLFST data is being transfered from the Norsk Data computer to our SUN cluster.
