COMMENT This file contains the Halpha template used by the WMAP team in the
COMMENT removal of Galactic foregrounds from the 5-year Polarization maps. The
COMMENT template is constructed by applying an extinction correction to the
COMMENT composite Halpha map of Finkbeiner (2003). The extinction correction
COMMENT assumes an intermix of gas and dust, as described in Bennett et al.
COMMENT (2003). The optical depth tau used in the correction is computed as
COMMNET tau = 2.2*E(B-V), where E(B-V) is obtained from the Galactic reddening
COMMENT maps of Schlegel, Finkbeiner and Davis (1998).
COMMENT The extinction-corrected map has been smoothed to a FWHM of 1 degree.
COMMENT This file is distributed and maintained by LAMBDA.
COMMENT The as-observed Halpha and E(B-V) maps are also available from LAMBDA.
