COMMENT   This file contains the Halpha template used by the WMAP team in the   
COMMENT   removal of Galactic foregrounds from the 9-year maps. The template is 
COMMENT   constructed by applying extinction and scattering corrections to the  
COMMENT   composite Halpha map of Finkbeiner (2003).  The extinction correction 
COMMENT   assumes an intermix of gas and dust, as described in Bennett et al.   
COMMENT   (2003).  The optical depth tau used in the correction is computed as  
COMMENT   tau = 2.2*E(B-V), where E(B-V) is obtained from the Galactic reddening
COMMENT   maps of Schlegel, Finkbeiner and Davis (1998).   The scattering       
COMMENT   correction is based on correlations between H alpha and 100 micron    
COMMENT   emission and is described in Bennett et al. (2013).  The extinction   
COMMENT   and scattering corrected map has been smoothed to a FWHM of 1 degree. 
COMMENT   This file is distributed and maintained by LAMBDA.                    
COMMENT   The as-observed Halpha and E(B-V) maps are also available from LAMBDA.
