Zodiacal Light Model

The Zodiacal Light model used by FIRAS was derived from DIRBE data. The pixel ZODI model is the weighted mean of the coadd ZODI model. Coadd ZODI spectra were removed prior to destriping. This was done to prevent time variability of the zodiacal light from affecting the destriper. After destriping, the ZODI was added back to the spectra. The spectra in the FMD_SKY dataset therefore include the zodiacal light. For a full discussion, see the FIRAS Explanatory Supplement (especially sub-section 8.1).
